Love the pic!
Facebook has become the place to go to tell people we love how we are doing throughout our busy day; that is fine but, personally, I have over 200 friends I have never met. So, in retrospect when I tell my loved ones where I am going for vacation (which I do not do by the way) but if I did, I would also be telling 200 people and all there friends and family as well. Disturbing right!
I know, I know, Your privacy setting is protecting you from such things right?!!
Yeah, probably NOT! If that were true then there would probably be no way to say, I dont know, FIND PEOPLE YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR.
Sorry, I got off on a tangent.
I find it disturbing that some of the facebook posts I see are written by people I know, love and respect. (with pictures)lol. Do you wonder, as I do, What are they thinking? Excuse me this is not an anonymous post, right! Everyone knows it was "Jane Doe" including, but not limited to her boss, friends, husband, husbands friends, parents, OMG your parents, and pretty much anyone who cares to look at your wall today. Oh and that DELETE post option is great to get it out of your face but guess what; SURPRISE!!! It is still in everyone elses that I just mentioned.
YOUR FIRED This lady simply stated that her job was boring and now she is really bored, or maybe not since she is probably LOOKING FOR A JOB!!!
facebook message This young girl got a "message" from her boss telling her she was fired. REALLY! that is like someone breaking up with you via facebook. OH WAIT, there is an app for that breakup.
Nice family oriented social network, isn't that what they called it in the begining? Wonder what we should call it now?
Last thing, did you buy stock?
I'm a little confused as to what you where trying to communicate with the last few paragraphs. Facebook isn't private, yeah I got that but it seems a little like a rambling conversation without a purpose except to ramble. Maybe you could strengthen your argument with a way to avoid the unfortunate events these people have experienced. It would give alternatives to those reading your final paper.
ReplyDeletemy blog is the fact that facebook has become a list of random and mindless drible from posting what they had for dinner to telling the world how they feel about their life, job, kids and just about everything. The last part goes into the consequences of what one person may have thought was a harmless post that turnd into the loss of a job or the cop out of doing your job by firing someone via private message. Further still I show through links the far reaching consequences of putting your life on the open web; where it becomes news.
DeleteOne more thing, it is a blog not a term paper and he said "Many of you treated your first post like a report, and that's okay...for your first post. From here on out, be more informal. Talk about your experiences in the first person tense and take a more relaxed tone." so that is what I tried to do.
DeleteI was a little confused as well. The post jumps from discussing what's being viewed to something totally different that doesn't fit together, other than it all connected to Facebook. That being said, I love the WSU vs CC photo. As for the lady who got fired via her post, it makes me wonder if she actually had her boss as one of her "friends" or if she doesn't have her setting so public can't read her postings. As long as she wasn't on Facebook at work, I don't know how they could legally fire her for saying her job was boring.
