What did I have to do first? Well of course, I had to introduce myself into the community. I did that by posting in one of the forums you see here on the right side of the screen.
Immediately I was welcomed by two existing members. One whom invited me to add her as a friend. She said that having friends within the MFP community to motivate each other really helps. I promptly accepted her friend request and typed her a brief message telling her thanks for the warm welcome and that I look forward to each of us motivating each other in our weight loss journey.
By accepting her as a friend, I was also able to read her profile and learn more about her such as where she was from, what her goals were, and who her friends were. This prompted me to update my profile. I did this by first adding a picture of myself. Here I am enjoying my summer in Jamaica swimming with the dolphins! I am hoping that this picture will help motivate me to get in shape for my next summer excursion!
The next thing I did while on MFP was I added another friend: our fellow classmate, Tina Hastings. Tina and I have successfully sent messages to each other via MFP and I look forward to working with her in our new community. It will be nice to be able to share our community experiences with each other. I plan on trying to recruit additional friends from work and some family members. I did this by sending them friend requests in hopes that they will join me on my MFP journey. While navigating some of the message boards, I did read a few posts and also made a few more friends. I found some members that live in Washington state and I am hopeful maybe I can find more classmates or a group that perhaps is from PSU or even a group from Clark College would be cool. Hey now there is an idea!!
All in all, it was nice to get things set up and going and to make some new friends on MFP. I plan on starting my food diary tomorrow and tracking my calories and calories burned. Once again, I will experience MFP immersion!
