The sign up registration process for MyFitnesspal community was very easy. I went to the site, was asked if I wanted to join, and I set up an account in a matter of minutes. I had to provide a few personal items such as my age, my weight, and my overall weight loss goal.
After getting registered I clicked on the Help tab located at the top of the web page. I was then prompted to select which MyFitnesspal I needed help with. There were a variety of options ranging from Android, Ipad, Blackberry, Iphone, and web. I chose the web option and then was directed to a variety of bulleted items including the following:
I chose the "General" option and approximately 10 bulleted choices came up under that item. I also selected "Forums and Blogs" and read how to post in the forums. The help that was provided to me after clicking on the Forums and Blogs help topic was the following: "To begin posting in the forums, click the "Community" tab in the top right of the site. Then, click the most appropriate forum category for your post from the list on the left, such as "Introduce Yourself" or "Technical Support/Need Help." To post a new topic or question, click the "New Topic" button in the top right. Or, click on an existing topic, and reply to the comments by clicking the "Reply" button" (MyFitnesspal.com). After clicking on "Profile, Friend, and Mail" I was provided helpful information on how to add a friend. This will be helpful when I go to add a classmate as a friend.
In regards to the "Community" on MyFitnesspal there were not a lot of Help topics on how to navigate the community. Since there were not any help topics to read, other than the Forums and Blogs, I decided to click around on the "Community" tab to see what I could find. Within the community, there were forums that I could post in such as "Introduce yourself, general diet and weight loss help, success stories, food and nutrition, fitness and exercise, motivation and support, recipes, and chit-chat fun and games." I also noticed that there was a tab labeled "Groups" in the community section of the website. I clicked on it and it took me to the newest groups. The groups listed had a variety of names and number of members. For example, there was a group of pastors, a group from Rome Italy, and a group called "Phillies Fans United." It also listed the most popular groups. These groups had a large number of members and you could click on their group title to find out more information. Another tab listed in the community section was the "blogs" tab. Here you could find recent and popular blogs from other members. I clicked on one and was directed to a blog from a member offering advice about running in hot weather. Also, located at the bottom of the page there was a tab that said "community guidelines." I clicked on it and was brought to a list of guidelines that should be followed while participating in the community. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelinesI am looking forward to joining the community and seeing what it has to offer. Mostly, I look forward to getting to know other members and seeing how they interact within the community.
