Pinterest

Well the first thing I realized is that you can not just “sign up for Pinterest. You have to be “invited” by someone first in order to join the online pinboard. Pinterest is an online pinboard, where you “pin” things… on Pinterest’s home page their slogan is “Organize and share things you love.” Luckily I have many friends who use Pinterest so I had one of them send me an invite to join. I click on the link my friend sent me and it says “Congratulations!! You have been invited to join Pinterest!” It asks me to sign up using my Facebook account or to use my Twitter account. Since I do not have a Twitter account I will be using my Facebook account to log into Pinterest. I now have to create a user name and enter in my email and a password. Woo Hoo! I officially have a Pinterest account now! Lol

The first page it took me too after clicking “create an account” is a page where they have asked me to click on some categories of things I like so they can find me more things to like. When you find something you like I’m under the impression you can “pin” it and then it tells your friends that you like it. I will fill you in as I know more.

Here is a picture I found online of what Pinterest looks like….

There was not a specific “Getting Started” selection under the About dropdown, but there was a Help option and I chose that one and it took me to a “Getting Started” area. Here is a link to tell you more about Pinterest… it’s the help option I chose....

I found this area VERY helpful!! This is the description the Pinterest site gave for what a “pin” is… to help all of you out who are totally lost by what this is.
“A pin is an image added to Pinterest. A pin can be added from a website using the Pin It button, or you can upload images from your computer. Each pin added using the Pin It button links back to the site it came from” (Pinterest).

There is only 6 topics under the Getting Started/Pinning 101 section but I felt it was very useful to me! After scrolling down further I found some other helpful areas I will be reading in the future such as…

-         Profile/Account Settings
-         Pinning and Repinning
-         Creating and Managing Your Pinboards
-         Commenting
-         Linking to Your Blog or Website
-
Then at the bottom of the page there is a link to their Support Page if you want to email them a question if you did not get your answer from the info above. There is also an option to read the “Pin Ediquette” information. I think this will be very informative as well.

Now I’m back at the home page again after reading some of the info from the Getting Started page and there is now option of my friends from Facebook that I can follow them. So I am clicking to go ahead and follow them… I’m not totally sure what that means but man I have more friends on here than I thought I did! Lol
