Noteflight: The Musician's Facebook

First off, I just wanted to say that it is great to be back in this class with you guys! I can not wait to see what everyone's final projects will look like and all the things I will learn. For my final project, I have decided on the online community of Noteflight. This website allows people to compose, edit, share, and score music. Access to the basic site is free with the option of an upgrade to Crescendo for a monthly fee. It is a great way to jot down any ideas you've had for songs, and ideas you want to share. I will admit that I am a band geek, so when my friends mentioned that they were using this site, I went and searched around it myself. I have been an active (free user) observer in this community since September, but I have never really gone in-depth with it. I think this will be a good opportunity to learn more about it. When you first arrive, it looks like this:

The registration process is fairly simple, with easy-to-follow tips (I think, I registered awhile ago, so I can't really remember). There is a really helpful getting started video that will give you a basic over-view of the website as a whole, plus lots of other tips and tricks for creating and editing your music. I didn't really go through any getting started areas, because my friends had already shown me how to use this site. Again, this is the basic homepage, but after you login, it will show your home screen with any scores that you have made (published and unpublished). I don't use this site for myself that often, just to look at my friends' works, so mine looks like this:

After you login, you can access the search bar, which allows you to search for a specific song or artist/composer/user. More on this will be posted soon.

  1. I've never heard of this site before! I'm not talented in the aspect of music, but I know people who are. I will definitely be suggesting this site to them.
