World of Warcraft

Hello Classmates,

My first blog in this class in about World of Warcraft and my journey on starting up. So for me it was a bit easier because my boyfriend already had an account so I didn’t have to go through setup of making one. First thing was to log onto his account and then click “Create New Character”. At this point you can look through different characters and even pick what they look like. My boyfriend is on the horde faction so I’ve chosen that side. Also he loves the Blood Elf Characters and they look like Elves from Lord of The Rings so I made a Blood Elf Hunter and named her Lenadire. I’m not sure why I picked a hunter but I’ve realized by a few things I’ll talk about later that you can have a pet. Also you can pick any kind of animal in game that’s tamable and you can name it. Which to me that is an awesome idea.

From there still being new I created the character and headed over to the website of World of Warcraft.

www.worldofwarcraft.com

The first thing that I noticed about the website was Diablo 3, which I guess is new and produced by the makers of world of warcraft. So I clicked continue to the website and found a lot of different things which all looked pretty hard to navigate through. I found the “search” field and typed in “getting started”. That is when it brought me to everything that I needed to know.

With the website it actually gives step by step to starting from the realm to choose, class, race and you can even make adjustments to your characters looks. It even goes farther than that to explain your abilities and how each class is played so people just starting out aren’t confused. To me that is a plus because there are so many little things that I'll be forgetting while playing but I'm glad that I can go back to the getting started page and it will help me out!

Also, while reading the getting started it shows comments below and some people are actually trying to make friends through the comments and something called "refer a friend". Refer a friend you get some cool item to ride on but you can also make a life long friend this way. But also I read some really rude comments which make me believe that their might be a lot of childish people that have nothing better to do than make people upset.

In closing, World of Warcraft looks so far so good! Sadly I couldn't get a picture of my own character that I've made but I did play her for a bit so it was fun and exciting and met a few people in what my boyfriend calls a "guild" which is a group of other awesome people playing the game and so many people have been willing to help me.

Until next week I hope I have a ton more information on this game then since I will be playing a little bit everyday and making friendships I hope!

I'm out :)

  1. It sounds like you have a great start in your exploration of World of Warcraft. There are lots of childish people who play the game (as with any online game), however you can always ignore those irritating people by typing /ignore (their name). I believe that is the command, it's been a few years. =) Guilds are a great way to meet people via the game, and usually you will find people in the guild willing to help you along your journey with quests. Especially when you have the lower end instance dungeons to complete.

    Good luck on your journey.
