Check'n in one, two, one, two
Hello fellow bloggers! This week I have been getting into the scene of Foursquare, check'n in and loving it. I was able to easily download the mobile app to my Galaxy and my phone for easy check-ins, friend stalking, updates on where the new hot-spots are, and last but not least, what places are recommended in my area.
The only real social interaction that I can tell, as of yet on Foursquare, is to leave a tip for others about a location, read the tips others have posted, or make lists of your favorite places. During the week I nanny and one spot I have to take the kids is The Marshall Community Center. http://www.cityofvancouver.us/parks-recreation/centers/marshall/index.asp While I was there, I checked in and viewed their page. On there was a tip from a patron expressing their happiness in the swim lessons that the MCC offers. The tip peeked my interest and so I decided to talk to the front desk about their classes and times they are offered. Long and behold, I signed my daughter up for their Turtle class on Monday and Wednesday nights. Now maybe after she gets some lessons under her belt, I will look into the other tip about the Vancouver Swim Club that utilizes the MCC and see if my daughter would like to join the competitive swim team.
Following the sign-up process of swim lessons, I decided to leave a tip of my own on the MCC page. I wanted other people to know how great the MCC was and about their lessons they offer. Hopefully my post, along with others, will help market a wonderful place for other families and their children.
Also while I was at the MCC I looked at Top Picks. Around the area, the #1 top pick was Felida Park and the #2 top pick was Salmon Greenway Trail. To me it seems that a lot of people in this area are either very health and body conscious or take their kids on many walks! I am sure it is a little of both. Needless to say, it has definitely given me two great places to take my daughter to play when the weather gets better and I can even change up my workout routine for a walk in nature.
I am finding that many of my friends on Foursquare frequent the same places and I can start to tell a pattern in their weekly schedules. Although their check-ins may not help me find new places to check out, I will be able to "drop in" on them at their favorite spots and maybe squeeze in some quality face time between my hectic schedule of school, work, Dr. appointments, and mommy duties.
Until next time ~
Andrea

I have never even heard of foursquare till now. I am not sure about the friend stalking application but then again facebook is the same thing. I do not understand why people want to announce to the world what they do every week or day as that opens you up for harm. There are way to many cyber stalkers out there for me to want to participate in helping them out in that way. LOL, I am very cautious as to what I post on-line. Interesting web site though. Tracie

ReplyDeleteI have always known of foursquare... but never really known what it was or how to use it. So I am liking your posts because they are informing me more of what it is and how to use foursquare. So thank you for that Andrea! :)
