So I went straight to a friend who check-ins regularly to Foursquare... these are my questions for Byron and his answers.
1. How long have you been a Foursquare member?
- 2 years
2. What made you want to be a member?
- Not really sure. It just seemed interesting and an easier way to check in to places than Facebook.
3. How much time do you spend on Foursquare?
- I don't spend a lot of time on Foursquare. It is more of a quick check-in and then I am done. To me it lacks the social aspect that Facebook has.
4. What is your main reasoning for using Foursquare?
- Checking in to different places. It also serves as a way to find discounts at different places you go to.
5. Other than check-ins, what other tabs are your favorites and why? If you don't use other tabs, why not?
- I don't really use any of the other features mainly because I don't care about them. To me, foursquare is a check-in tool and that's it.
6. Would you say your experience has been positive or negative and why?
- Positive I guess. There haven't been any issues with it really. I don't know whether I can classify my experience and positive or negative because I just use it for check-ins.
7. Is there anything you feel Foursquare should add or change?
- No, not really. I feel like I am being redundant, but I only look at the site to show where I am or have been throughout my day.
8. Do you have a public profile and if so would you share your profile name with my class community?
- I don't have a public profile. Mine is private.
I personally have talked to many of my Foursquare user friends and the consensus agrees with Byron. Most people think of Foursquare as just a "who is where" tool and feel that it lacks the social networking aspect and overall relationship feeling Facebook offers.
