Hours of Trolling on IRC

The option I choose to do was an interview and I must say doing interviews over IRC is really easy and fast. I could definitely see why people would want to use this service to relay information to others over a distance. The person I was able to interview is called Morty.

1. How long have you been a IRC user?

[13:23] <Morty> I've been on IRC since 2007

2. What made you want to be a member?

[13:24] <Morty> I played Injustice* and early MM* and needed an easy way to communicate so i chose Irc

* Injustice and MafiaMatrix (MM) are online Muti-Player Games (MPG) and they both use IRC as a main basis of communication among one another or even in large groups like the Anonymous group did in my previous blog post. .

3. How much time do you spend on IRC and how do you spend that time?

[13:26] <Morty> Eh , when i actually get on i average probably.. 7-10 hours a day doing random things on IRC.

There are various things one can do on IRC such things could be; Talking to people privately or talking to numerous people on channels. Some other fun things you can do on IRC is playing a game called vampires by joining #Vampire but that's not all you can also play ... there are various trivia game channels.

4. Would you say your experience has been positive or negative and why?

[13:28] <Morty> I'd say both , I've made quite a lot of friends , alliance's and overall positive things on IRC
[13:28] <Morty> But at the same time , I've said some pretty stupid thing that will stay with me

5. What do you like most/least about IRC?

[13:29] <Morty> The best thing are the people i know , without friends on irc there's not much use trolling around here anymore
[13:29] <Morty> The least favorite thing? Good trolls.




A Troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

6. Is there anything you feel IRC should add or change?

[13:31] <Morty> Not really , the Jaundies server doesn't have any spammers or anything bad really
[13:31] <Morty> Just annoying #*%*$ every once in a while

Overall i would say my experience has been good with the exception of 3 people who i had talked to over the course of using IRC. I will definitely keep using IRC as a way of communication.
