Below is our question and answer session...
Q:Would you consider your experience
to be positive or negative?
A: I would consider Pinterest to be a positive experience, it’s a great creative
outlet for me. Not only do I get new ideas for crafts, sewing, and cooking, it also
allows a easy place to store the information and it's easily accessible to me.
Q:What made you want to be part of
this community (or service)?
A: Initially it was curiosity, a friend
referred me and once I understood how Pinterest worked, I’ve been using it
several hours a day since.
Q:How
much time do you spend on this community, and how do you spend that time?
A:Several
hours a day, I would be either looking at new currently posted posts, or
searching particular subjects that I'm interested in, As well as doing offsite pinning.
Q:What
keeps you coming back?
A:I
like the structure of the boards, like how I can look up anything I want, any
subject, and if I have an interest in it I can pin it to a board and keep
pinning.
Q: Why is Pinterest important to you?
A:It’s
fun, it feeds my creative side, and it allows me to see what others are interested in
also. I see what the newest trends are, and because it’s worldwide I see the newest trends from all countries.
Q: Whats
the most beneficial thing that Pinterest offers?
A: In my opinion the
ability to access multiple types of information on one site.
·
Q: Would
you recommend others to join Pinterest and why?
A: Absolutely,
because it’s a great resource to do whatever you want to do, connect with other
people, find what your interests are, whatever your reasons there’s an avenue on Pinterest.
·
Q:What
you do least like about Pinterest?
A:What I least like is that
some people on Pinterest feel that there should be censorship on the site, and I
disagree with that. For example if someone puts up a nude art piece there will be at least
one person that comments no more smut on pinterest. These people making these comments say it’s a family
friendly site. It wasn’t designed that way, whatever is on there should be
there.
·
Q:How
would you rate if among other social networking sites?
A:I
use it as an information site rather than a social networking site. Even though Pinterest has social networking ability, I’m not that social. Therefore I'm unable to
rate it in this way.
·
Q:Do
you think Pinterest has a positive or negative impact on society today and why?
A:I believe it has a positive
impact, because it’s a worldwide shared source of free information.
See you next week,

It is interesting to see how important Pinterest is to people. I know that I have dabbled with it and found it a little fun and I have found awesome recipes on the site, but it seems that I am not as dedicated as many of the users that Pinterest gets. Furthermore, I agree with your interviewee, that censorship on Pinterest does not belong and the fact that people would have issue with that is stunning.
ReplyDeleteGreat Post!

I enjoyed reading your interview. I have never visited Pinterest and I think I will. I have a friend who says she has gotten some great gardening tips there. I am an avid gardener so I'd be interested in learning what Pinterest has to offer in that area. I am not much of a cook, but sometimes it's nice to have a fresh idea especially if you have to take something to a party or family activity.
ReplyDeleteI was especially interested in the part of the interview where it talked about it being worldwide. That hadn't occured to me and would make it even more interesting because you could share ideas with people globally.
